## General Information

Congratulations on purchasing the GATE PTX airsoft pistol.

The GATE PTX isn’t just a sidearm — it’s a compact, high-performance SMG in pistol form. For the first time in airsoft history, a compact pistol features a fully factory-integrated electropneumatic HPA engine: the **PULSAR S2**. Designed as our latest breakthrough, the** PULSAR S2** is engineered as a single unit with a VSR-style hop-up chamber and paired with the class-leading **ASTER II Bluetooth®** PTX electronic Fire Control Unit (FCU).

**The result?** A pocket-sized beast with consistent precision, an extremely fast trigger response and a level of configurability previously reserved only for full-size HPA platforms.

**PTX **is engineered for players who demand fingertip control, repeatable accuracy and rock-solid reliability — day in, day out — without the complications of traditional GBB systems.

![image-20251202-072906.png](media://497d34ca-ea0a-43a8-960f-acb81b2db523)

## Calibration of HPA engine control timing

1. Connect to PTX pistol using the GCS app by selecting “**+**”** **in the Dashboard.
2. Select the PTX pistol from the list. If this is the first connection, enter the PIN code provided with the product.
3. After connecting the ASTER II Bluetooth® to the GCS, update the firmware to the latest version.
4. After updating the ASTER II Bluetooth® firmware, tap the PTX icon.
5. Go to the **General **tab.
6. Tap the **HPA Engine **tab.

## PULSAR S2 Engine Calibration

1. Start the calibration by restoring the default settings, which work well for most replicas and provide a solid starting point for precise calibration.
2. Set the **Main Valve Time **to **15 ms**.
3. Proceed to chrono the replica. Depending on the BB weight, barrel length, and hop-up bucking, use the pressure regulator to set the desired BB muzzle velocity.
4. Decrease the **Main Valve Time** by **1 ms **at a time** **until the FPS begins to drop. If you notice a decrease in FPS, revert to the previous time value at which the FPS remained stable. This indicates that the **Main Valve Time** has been calibrated correctly.
5. Go to the **Main Valve Pause** setting. This value depends on the quality of the magazine being used: the weaker the spring in the magazine, the longer the pause will need to be. Calibrate this setting in the same way as the **Main Valve Time**. Start at **25 ms** and decrease by **1 ms** at a time until you notice interruptions in the the BB feed. Then revert to the previous time setting. If BB feed issues persist, increase the pause time as needed.

---

## Tooltips

**Main Valve Time** **(dP)** – Main Valve Time (Poppet Dwell – dP) – the opening time of the main solenoid valve. This setting allows you to adjust the muzzle velocity of the HPA replica and its gas consumption.

**Main Valve Pause** – the interval between consecutive shot cycles in a single-solenoid valve engine, or the interval between the intermediate solenoid valve cycle and the nozzle cycle in a dual-solenoid valve engine. This setting affects the stability of the hop-up and the overall operation of the engine (FPS).

**Anti-Stiction Timeout (iS)** – the time elapsed after the last shot is fired before additional boost time - **Anti-Stiction Pulse (iP)** - is applied.

**RPS Limit **–** **Rate of Fire – ROF (RPS) – this setting simulates the rate of fire based on the configured time settings. After calibrating the engine, the maximum achievable RPS will be displayed. The rate of fire can be reduced by lowering the RPS value.

## PULSAR S2 Engine Maintenance Manual

The PULSAR S2 requires periodic cleaning and maintenance. The frequency of use of the replica and the level of contamination in the system will determine the intervals between maintenance procedures. Perform preventive cleaning every six months if no operational issues are noticed earlier.

If the engine is not functioning properly, immediately disassemble it. Carefully remove the solenoid valve, as its seals are very delicate, and clean the engine thoroughly - for example, using petroleum ether. **Do not immerse the solenoid valve in solvents**; instead, clean it gently with dust-free paper.

Inspect the condition of all O-rings. Replace any that are damaged with new ones (spare O-rings are included in the kit; this does not apply to solenoid valve washers). Remove old O-rings carefully and install new ones without using sharp metal tools, as these can damage the O-rings or aluminum surfaces of engine components. Such damage may be permanent and is not covered by the warranty.

If you encounter any issues or have questions, contact our technical support department. All components are also available separately for post-warranty support.

1. Gently slide the barrel—with the hop-up rubber ring already installed—into the chamber so that the rubber ring seats properly in its slot.

> ℹ️ The hop-up bucking may vary depending on the generation of the PTX pistol.

2. Install the barrel sleeve and the 8×1.5 O-ring onto the barrel.

> ℹ️ The V22 and V31 versions have a larger barrel stabilizer.

3. Place the C-clip on the hop-up chamber. The C-clip must fit snugly and securely, without excessive tension or deformation.
4. Install the nub.
5. Screw the high-pressure hose into the PULSAR S2 engine.
6. Screw the solenoid valve into the engine.
7. Insert the assembled PULSAR S2 engine into the PTX pistol body, taking care when routing the high-pressure hose—it should pass through the designated opening, not through the magazine well.
8. Attach the upper receiver of the PTX pistol and insert the pin.
9. Install the solenoid valve cover and secure it with two screws. Make sure the screws are tightened sufficiently so that the upper latch has no play.
10. Install the QD fitting on the high-pressure hose.

## Troubleshooting

### **Air freely escaping through the barrel**

Currently (with the latest engine version where other possible causes have been eliminated ) if the problem of air freely escaping through the barrel occurs, the most common cause is a curled hose or another low-flow hose. If the engine gets stuck in the position where it releases air through the barrel, **connect it directly to the regulator and check whether the issue still occurs when bypassing the extension hose**. If the problem disappears, replace the hose with one that has a higher flow rate.

### BB freely rolling out of the barrel

The second commonly encountered issue is an incomplete engine cycle. This typically looks as the BB freely rolling out of the barrel, especially during the first shots, instead of being properly fired. This situation indicates that the valve is open for too short a time. You need to increase the dP time. If the problem occurs in low temperatures, enable the anti-stiction function

### **Low FPS**

> ❌ **Warning**
> ❌ Always disconnect the pressure source and the power supply from the replica while performing checks to ensure safety.

### **Leak at the hop-up bucking/nozzle connection**

> ❌ **Warning**
> ❌ Ensure the replica is safe to handle: disconnect the magazine, make sure there is no BB in the chamber, and observe all safety precautions.

**Check procedure:**

1. Plug the barrel with your finger and fire a single shot in **Single Solenoid Valve Engine mode** with the pressure connected. After firing, the nozzle should remain closed, and pressure should stay in the barrel until you remove your finger from the muzzle.
2. If you hear a hiss of air escaping from the chamber, the hop-up bucking is not sealing properly with the nozzle.

**Troubleshooting steps:**

1. **Clean the nozzle:** Remove any dirt or debris
2. **Check the hop-up rubber:** Clean it, or replace it with a new one if necessary.

**Bent air hose in the gearbox**

1. Open the replica and inspect the high-pressure hose. Ensure it is neither bent nor damaged.
2. Reconnect the pressure and check for leaks around the hose.
3. If air escapes, secure the high-pressure hose to the engine body properly.

**Non-optimal engine settings in GCS**

1. Restore the default HPA Engine settings.
2. Increase the Main Valve as needed to optimize performance

### **Unstable FPS**

Hop-up bucking collar curling up:

- Use a different hop-up rubber.

Damaged regulator:

- Check whether the regulator is supplying and refreshing pressure correctly.

### **No BB feed**

Excessively low operating pressure:

In some cases - such as low ambient temperatures or replacing the tappet plate spring with a stiffer one - it may be necessary to increase the operating pressure. This may result in a higher firing rate. To maintain the desired FPS, the **Main Valve Time (DP)** must then be reduced.

Adjustment procedure:

1. Increase the regulator pressure until BBs are fed reliably.
2. Reduce the **Main Valve Time (DP)** until the desired muzzle velocity is achieved.

## FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

#### Which hop-up bucking should be used with the PULSAR S2 engine?

The choice of hop-up bucking depends on the hop-up chamber, the power output of the replica, and the BBs used. We recommend testing buckings individually in your specific setup, as there is no universal solution that works in every configuration.

Based on our experience, the following hop-up buckings most commonly work correctly:

> ⚠️ **Caution**
> ⚠️ The PULSAR S2 engine is compatible **only with GBB/VSR hop-up rubbers.**

- SniperMechanic Flamingo Gen. 3
- Maple Leaf MR HOP/AUTOBOT
- 4UANTUM Friction Pro-high

We do **not** recommend using silicone hop-up buckings with PULSAR engines. Silicone buckings have lower resistance to friction and wear, causing faster degradation. Additionally, silicone materials tend to change their properties at extreme temperatures, which can negatively affect BB spin consistency.

**Which medium can be used to power the engine?**

High-pressure air (HPA) can be used safely. **CO₂ is not recommended**, as its use may cause permanent damage to the engine. Such damage is **not covered by the warranty**.

**What is the air hose thread?**

M5 thread with a 0.8 mm pitch.

**What is the length of the nozzle installed in the engine?**

The PULSAR S2 engine comes with a dedicated nozzle. Thanks to the engine innovative design, which is integrated into the Hop-Up chamber, users don’t have to worry about selecting the correct nozzle length for the replica to function properly

**Is the PULSAR S2 engine closed-bolt or open-bolt?**

The PULSAR S2 is a single-solenoid engine and operates in an open-bolt system.

**What is the maximum operating pressure for the PULSAR S2 engine?**

The engine is designed to operate at a maximum pressure of 140 PSI.

**Which regulators are compatible with the PULSAR S2 engine?**

- PolarStar MRS
- Redline SFR
- Wolverine STORM

## Charging the GATE EON Li‑Po Battery

1. Remove the retaining pin and disassemble the upper receiver.
2. Pull out the battery wires or remove the entire battery from the PTX housing.
3. Connect the battery to the charger:
  - If you are using a charger equipped with **G‑Tech technology**, simply connect the battery. The charger will automatically detect the battery model and select the appropriate charging parameters.
  - If you are not using a G‑Tech charger, manually set the charging parameters according to the battery manufacturer’s recommendations.
4. Once charging is complete, reinstall the upper receiver and secure it with the retaining pin.

> ℹ️ When the battery charge level drops to a safe minimum, the ETU will activate the UVP1 safety feature and firing will be disabled. This condition is indicated by a flashing orange LED visible through the opening near the trigger and lasts for 5 minutes. After connecting to the GCS, the message “UVP1” appears in the DIAGNOSTICS tab. After 5 minutes, the ETU will enter maximum power-saving mode.

### What is G‑Tech?

G‑Tech is an intelligent system that connects batteries and chargers within one ecosystem, designed for ease of use and maximum safety.

Batteries equipped with G‑Tech technology feature a built‑in smart chip inside the balance connector. This allows the charger to automatically recognize the battery parameters and select the correct charging profile.

As a result, the system operates in a true plug‑and‑play manner — without the need for manual parameter setup or configuration.
